Hearing Test Results

Good news....the fluid has completely drained from Logan's ears.

Bad news....Logan did not pass his hearing test so he has some degree of hearing loss.

Logan did a great job sitting quietly for his hearing test. (Besides his noisey breathing almost messing up the test) At first, I was a little concerned when he cried for a good 10 minutes after the doctor looked in his ears and I had to feed him to settle him down. I think Logan has a hard time with pain. Every time he is in any kind of pain, it takes him FOREVER to get over it. Not sure why that is?? Anyway, after he settled down they did the test. It came back a fail for both ears so we will be going down to the Children's Hospital of Milwaukee for an Auditory Brain Stem Response Test and while we are there, Logan will see a Pediatric ENT Specialist to try to figure out Logan's breathing issues.

When are you going to Children's? We're heading there again on Wednesday for our next trip. Let me know; we could meet up for lunch or something.

Good luck with Logan's appointments!

Well, at least you are getting some answers. Hope all goes well at your next appointments...

Hopefully it is nothing. Hopefully there is still fluid and they just can't see it (as bad as that sounds). I know Payton's "fluid" was like molasses and there was no draining that. Funny you say that about pain too, because I have heard so many times that our kids have a high pain tolerance. Not sure about that ... guess I'll find out as she gets older!

It seems now that you have even more unanswered questions. I hope when you go to the childrens hospital for the response test, they can tell you exactly what he is or isn't hearing and let you know what the next step is. What kind of hearing test did they do for him in the office? I know Rylie never did well in the booth when she was a baby. Like the comment above, maybe there is some fluid in the ears still?

We go back in Feb to try the "regular" test again...she didn't cooperate last time. She did have a little fluid in November as well, so I hope it's gone. Otherwise, they've already told us it'll be tube time.

So sorry he had a rough go with the exam. (p.s...Logan's been tagged by Braska in today's post.)
