Potty 101

Last Monday, when I decided to start potty training Devin, I did not know what I was in for. But, I have to say he has come a long way in about a week and a half. Each day he has only been going on the potty about once or twice a day...today he has gone three times and it is only noon!!! He still doesn't tell me he has to go, but hopefully that will come soon.
Maybe our success has something to do with the fact that we are on our THIRD potty! Yes, we bought our third yesterday. The boy "pee-pee thing" was always falling off the first one and the second one had a built in "pee-pee thing" but the potty hurt his bottom (he had a red ring when he stood up!). So now, I think I have found the right one. It has a padded ring and a built in "pee-pee stopper thing". I guess I should have studied potties ahead of time.

Logan's Dedication

Today, we dedicated Logan to the Lord in a ceremony at our church. We were so happy that some of our friends and family could be there to support Logan and Dale and I as we raise Logan in our faith. Logan was also supported by his God parents, Shanna and Rob.

Doctor said he looks great and has no concerns at this time. We will go back when Logan is 6 months.

New Milestone!

Logan can now hold his head up when he is on his belly! He has also been rolling (back to belly) for about a month now and is getting really good at it!

Having a bad week...

I don't know if it is because I have to take Logan to the doctor tomorrow, or that he seems to be falling behind in his gross motor development, or because kids are going back to school now and I can't help but think about what that is going to be like for us, but I just feel sad. I was getting good at living day to day, but recently I am worrying about tomorrow a little too much. I was told to learn all that I could about the endless list of medical issues that could affect Logan because his doctor may not test for these things appropriately. I know that I am going to have to be his best advocate, but I don't know if I am prepared to be his doctor as well. I was never the type of person to be pushy with professionals, but I guess this is just a taste of what is to come.

Meeting Down Syndrome Families

I have been overwhelmed (a good kind of overwhelmed) by the response I have gotten from families who have a child with Down syndrome. I have gotten connected through Parent to Parent, DS Association of Wisconsin and the Arc of Appleton. The Arc has a wonderful group called the DS Family Network. They meet as a playgroup every week. I have also had families wanting to meet us and we have since gotten together with three different families individually. I also plan to hopefully go to a Down to Earth meeting in Oshkosh soon.
