Logan in Times Square!!!

Over the weekend, Logan appeared on the Times Square jumbotron! My friend Megan was there and she took a picture of him up there for me!!! Thanks so much Megan!! It still brings tears to my eyes every time I look at the picture. I can't believe he was up there for everyone to see. He was up there to celebrate the New York City Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness along with many other children and adults with Down syndrome. I will post the entire video that was shown in Times Square soon!
Here he is!!!

The Best Bubbles Ever!

These ARE the best bubbles ever! We played with these yesterday at 8am and there were still bubbles stuck all over at 8pm that night! Why is this good, you may ask? Well, when Logan was younger his OT would blow bubbles to help with his visual tracking and fine motor skills (popping them with his pointer finger). The bubbles we used back then always popped when they hit the carpet. But with these, you can actually get them to land on your finger or anywhere and they don't pop right away. They're also slow moving in the air. Ours float around the room for hours!! They are so fun!! You can see them all sitting on the brown blanket in the pictures! Oh, and you can get them HERE!

Logan and his puppy

Logan loves dogs! Unfortunately, we don't have one, but he has a favorite stuffed dog. He makes the cutest barking sound and has many kisses for his buddy.

The severity question...

I got this question a few times right after Logan was born, but even then, I found it irritating.
I took Devin to a new children's dentist today and somehow we got into a discussion about Logan and Down syndrome. I plan to take Logan to this dentist from now on, but he has not met him yet. Of course, he referred to Logan as a Downs child (and he said it repeatedly!), but it got even worse than that. He asked me "what is the severity of Logan's downs?" Seriously??!!! I just sat there stunned and then I told him there is no way to know that at this point.
Has anyone else had this question? Does it bother you? I just feel like people want to judge our kids before they have a chance to show their full potential. How does anyone know what a child is capable of shortly after they are born! I am expecting to learn about Logan over his entire lifetime. Who knows what he will be doing 5, 10 or 30 years from now. I believe the possibilities are endless and judging any child with DS so early in their life is completely unfair and would be harmful to their potential.
I am sick of meeting new doctors who claim to have experience with children with DS who seem so care so much, but then they let me down with the way they talk about our kids. I think I need to carry around a brochure to pass out to every doctor I come in contact with, that explains people first language!

Logan Photo Shoot

You can check out some new pictures of Logan HERE. Enjoy!

First Day of School

Well, it went better than I thought it would...for me and for Devin. He was very excited this morning and eager to get out the door. When we got there I stood with him in line where we waiting to be led to his classroom. When we got to his classroom door he just went right in. I had to stop him to tell him goodbye and that was it. I turned and went on my way. He didn't even hesitate....such a big boy.
